Session Behavior

Session Behavior settings control how remote sessions are launched and displayed.

Uninstall Quick Connect After Session

Quick Connect is a temporary remote support application used to establish attended remote support sessions.

Enable Uninstall Quick Connect After Session

When enabled:

  • The Quick Connect application is automatically removed after the remote support session ends.
  • No remote support software remains on the user’s device.
  • Reduces software clutter on managed and unmanaged endpoints.

When to Enable

This setting is recommended for:

  • Customer support sessions
  • One-time remote assistance
  • Third-party support engagements
  • Temporary troubleshooting sessions

When to Disable

Consider disabling this option when:

  • Multiple support sessions are expected
  • Users frequently require assistance
  • Repeated installation should be avoided

Show Remote Cursor in Viewer

Displays the remote device’s native mouse cursor within the Remote Viewer.

Enable Show Remote Cursor

When enabled:

  • Technicians can see the remote user’s actual cursor position.
  • Improves pointer accuracy.
  • Makes troubleshooting easier during collaborative sessions.

Benefits

  • Better visibility
  • More accurate mouse control
  • Improved user guidance
  • Reduced confusion during support sessions

Recommended Setting

Most organizations should keep this option enabled.

Open Viewer In

Determines how the Remote Viewer is launched when a session begins.

Same Tab

Launches the viewer within the current browser tab.

Advantages

  • Minimal browser tabs
  • Simple navigation
  • Ideal for single-session administrators

New Tab

Launches the viewer in a separate browser tab.

Advantages

  • Easy switching between console and session
  • Most commonly used option
  • Better multitasking experience

New Window

Launches the viewer in a dedicated browser window.

Advantages

  • Maximum screen space
  • Better multi-monitor workflows
  • Improved focus during remote support sessions

Recommended Setting

For most administrators, New Tab provides the best balance between usability and productivity.

Session Timing & Expiry

Session Timing & Expiry settings help control inactive sessions and temporary support links.

Invite Expiry Link

Defines how long a remote support invitation remains valid.

Example

30 Minutes

If the recipient does not join before the expiration period:

  • The invitation expires automatically.
  • The support session becomes invalid.
  • A new invitation must be generated.

Recommended Values

EnvironmentSuggested Value
Internal IT Support30 Minutes
Customer Support30 to 60 Minutes
Managed Service Providers60 Minutes

Shorter expiration periods improve security by reducing the risk of unauthorized use.

Idle Session Timeout

Automatically triggers an action when no keyboard or mouse activity is detected from the technician.

Example

60 Minutes

If the session remains inactive beyond the configured timeout period, the selected action is executed automatically.

Benefits

  • Prevents abandoned sessions
  • Improves security
  • Reduces unauthorized access risk
  • Helps meet compliance requirements

Recommended Values

EnvironmentSuggested Timeout
Corporate Workstations30–60 Minutes
Shared Devices15–30 Minutes
High Security Environments10–15 Minutes
Lab Environments60–120 Minutes

Timeout Action

Determines what happens when an idle session timeout occurs.

Disconnect Only

Ends the remote session while leaving the remote computer unlocked.

Use Cases

  • IT administration
  • Internal support environments
  • Non-sensitive systems

Disconnect and Lock

Ends the session and locks the remote device.

Use Cases

  • Employee devices
  • Shared workstations
  • Security-sensitive environments
  • Compliance-focused organizations

Recommended Setting

For most business environments, Disconnect and Lock provides stronger security protection.

Security & Privacy

Security & Privacy settings help protect sensitive information during remote sessions.

Lock Remote Computer on Disconnect

Automatically locks the remote device when the session ends.

Enable Lock Remote Computer on Disconnect

When enabled:

  • The remote session ends.
  • The workstation is immediately locked.
  • Users must authenticate to regain access.

Benefits

  • Prevents unauthorized access
  • Protects unattended devices
  • Improves endpoint security

Recommended Scenarios

Enable this setting for:

  • Shared workstations
  • Executive devices
  • Remote employees
  • Compliance-regulated environments

Disable Clipboard Transfer

Controls whether clipboard content can be copied between the technician’s computer and the remote device.

Clipboard synchronization allows users to copy and paste:

  • Text

  • URLs
  • Configuration values

While convenient, clipboard sharing may increase the risk of accidental data transfer.

Enable Disable Clipboard Transfer

When enabled, clipboard synchronization restrictions are applied according to the selected policy.

Clipboard Restriction Modes

Disable Clipboard: Both Directions
